As someone who travels frequently, and ends up using "free" wireless hotspots, I've become more cautious (I was going to say paranoid...). I have set up my email to connect via SSL for both receiving and sending. Receiving wasn't a big issue, but everytime I would send email, I would get a domain mismatch error (i.e., the cert for page-zone.com doesn't match mydomain.com, which is the one I'm connecting to), which got very annoying, very quickly. After looking into getting my own certificates ($$OUCH$$) for each domain, I figured I would just live with the error messages.

For those that use
Thunderbird, there is a nifty extention,
Remember Mismatched Domains, that teaches Thunderbird to ignore that error message for domains you specify. The extension also works for
Firefox.
Of course, this can be a dangerous extension, so only use it for domains you trust (like Page-Zone.com, of course ;-).
