This will require a ton of additional work on my part to constantly ftp in and remove disk space hogging spam that SHOULD be blackholed.
Why has the ability to make changes to the dafault address been removed from root10?

I hope there is a way for that to change too. But for now that is the way things are set up on several servers, and maybe all eventually. Withough input from Jim about it, I don't want to speculate about it. I can understand why the bounce was eliminated, but the blackhole was a necessity. However, how can you allow a feature, but not all commands? That is the dilemma.
What I've done:
1. Make an email account for one unrouted name that gets a lot of mail. Then I created a mail filter that discards all mail to it.
2. Turned on spam assassin for the default account, and regulary download it. My mail client takes care of the rest.
I'm not sure if a mail filter for the default address will work in eliminating all mail that goes to it. Maybe someone has that answer. I'm sure there are other ideas out there too.
