https URL goes elsewhere -
06-12-2007, 08:33 PM
Okay, this is a weird one. My mail domain, starlyth.net works fine, until I try to log in as https (i.e., https://starlyth.net), it then forwards (with that URL in the location field) to Turning Base - Pilot Supplies / Aviation Supplies. Any idea what's going on?

In your case, If I go to https://starlyth.net --- I get redirected as you said.

A Partial Answer -

Well, it looks like the other website is served by Page-Zone as well. Their nameservers are ns1.wwwroot3.net and ns2.wwwroot3.net, so I'm guessing that the nameservers have some kind of pointing error.
Ed: Regarding the invalid ) in the URL link. I didn't actually put links into the post, I just typed the URLs without linking them. I'm guessing that the BB software automatically updated them to a link, nor did I type in Turning Base's name, just the DNS address. That will have to be kept in mind for the future.

I agree now- after following this through the second time.

I get caught with vBulletin's "modifications" too- it can make communication more confusing. :-)

I forgot to add one thing. When going to https://starlyth.net/webmail/, I watched the progression on the status bar, and it went to Turning Base, first, then went to the webmail log in.
Not sure that it is all that important, it's just annoyance, but should this be sent to PZ support, you think?

You have some sort of DNS problem that Jim will have to fix.
Error: dns does not resolve either. According to the turningbase site they are aware of a problem, have you contacted them?

I hadn't contact turningbase, but I did note that they are having a website issue (I also note that they don't mention what it is).
WWW does not resolve, which is as I planned it.
I will contact Jim.
As for contacting turningbase, I don't want to undermine someone if they are reselling to turningbase
Thanks,
Ian

Why are you also pointing at
ns1.wwwroot.net.
ns2.wwwroot.net.
they dont seem to be doing anything, could be part of the problem.

ns1.wwwroot.net & ns2.wwwroot.net are the nameservers that are set up with the registrar. They were setup as instructed by Page-Zone.

It's going to the cpanel login page for webmail now. I call that "fixed".
Weird thing, when I substitute my domain in that link, I get "error code -12263".

Hmmm. I just tried it again (https://starlyth.net/webmail), and was prompted to accept the SSL certificate from TurningBase, which I did, but then was forwarded to https://southbend-134.pgzn.com:2096.
I've submitted a help ticket. Hopefully, Jim'll be able to figure out what's happened.
