Correct procedure for updating? - 10-31-2002, 02:17 AM

I have four bulletin boards setup and the oldest one will not let me edit postings. What would the save procedure be for backing up all the settings and members information in order to upgrade the board to the newest settings.
The forum I cannot edit from is at
http://www.blaiswebcreations.com/xrfanforum/
One of the good ones is at
http://www.fasstco.com/forum/
Thanks for your time on this, Martin.

Hi RC Racer,

Since forums usually store every important setting in mysql database
you'll need to backup your database for that particular forum.

This is possible via
Cpanel>Backup
or
Cpanel>SQL databases>Phpmyadmin

You may also want to backup your site
if anything goes wrong you can revert to old version.

But first of all, you'll need to investigate why not able to edit post.User/admin settings on that board may prevent to change anything.

I not really like XMB,and not easy to read the text.I migrated recently my phpBB forum to InvisionBoard, but both of them very nice.

If you really lost, i can setup an xmb board on my site and we can try to load your mysql dump and let's see what happening.

Did you installed XMB via Cpanel?

I tried to install xmb but the Cpanel is already upgraded and supports only
phpBB now.

Since xmbforums.com not allow
any download, even for registered users, this way hard to simulate this problem, because i'm not able to install this board.

If you have any previous download let me know.
