Outlook Express Auto Set-Up - 07-31-2003, 12:53 AM

I created 4 new e-mail accounts on a new domain, and tried to use the Outlook Express Auto Configuration in cpanel, but can't get it to work. I manually set-up my other domain's e-mail accounts, but thought since there were 4 this time, I'd try the auto-set-up.

With OE closed, I click "Open" when the download window appears, and the email.reg file simply opens in Notepad as a text file!

What am I doing wrong?

The domain is www.planetyorkie.com

Thanks,

JCM

- What am I doing wrong?-

It appears you downloaded the config rather than selecting "run from this location".??

Or your settings in WIndows is set to open reg files with notepad. You may want to download the reg file to your desktop then highlight the file. Then hold your CTRL key and right click the file. You should see a menu called "OPEN WITH" - select that. If you have Windows XP yo umay need to select choose program from this next window. Yo will then see a list of programs you can choose. Click the button called browse and go to your windows folder and look for reg edit. select that program to run the reg file.

Or - which may even be easier - go to the RUN line and type regedit. Form the FILE menu choose import then select the reg file you downloaded.

See if that solves the issue. If not you may just want to set them up manually.

Warm Regards,

Thank you!

Able to configure them by saving, shift right-click, Open with, regedit.

Checking the box to "Always use this program with this file type" still opens it in Notepad. Not clicking that box allows regedit to open the file.

Not sure why that is. Can't find anyplace where it's configured to do that. But on this old monster w/Win98SE, anything's possible!

Again, thanks for the assist.
