how does .filter work?

I tried the "delete all spam recognized by spam assassin" option in cpanel,mail filter. This does not work. It creates a file called .filter in my home (which appears to belong to exim)

How do I make it work?

... to answer your question though, this is a known bug. Not sure how it can be fixed.
