Quicktime Video - 09-25-2002, 04:00 PM

I'm having prblems getting quicktime videos to play. I've simply uploaded the video files to my files folder with a link to the file but it can not be found. The extension of these files are .MOV
Is your server operating system case sensitive? If so, how do I change the file extension to the lower case .mov?
This is the first time I've tried posting video files so please my newbie experience.

Howdy! Good to see a fellow St Louisan here!

Normally, Unix systems are case-sensitive. If you try to rename the file in Windows and it keeps staying the same, here is a trick I use. Let's say the filename is stl.MOV and attempts to rename it stl.mov just don't work. Use a 2 step process to actually force the rename. Rename stl.MOV to stl.MO and then rename stl.MO to stl.mov and it should work.

I guess the problem is I'm not sure how to rename the extension. How does windows allow you to do this? It seems I can only rename the file name not the extension.
FYI I'm using windows XP Home if that makes a difference.

In windows explorer you need to go to Tools | Folder Options | View (tab) and uncheck the box that says hide file extensions of known file types.

That is the procedure in Windows 2000. XP should be similar.
