RSS & News Gathering

I know that there are some canned software packages out there for acquiring newsfeed info. I would help a great deal with my rare cancer website to be able to get the latest news on cancer research and treatments. I have very little knowledge of the whole procedure. So, here go the questions.

Does Page Zone have any future plans to include any type of newsfeed gathering software into it's Cpanel?

Has anyone here collected RSS information from an external website to develop your own 'news' page?

Has anyone ever used any 'canned' software to accomplish this? If so, can you let me know if you would recommend it?

Have any of you developed your own software to gather news from RSS sources?

Any and all information you could give me on this would be appreciated. I am constantly, learning, learning........

RSS is a good way to help a site keep updated info on it. I don't think it is for everyone, unless the feed is just what you expect your viewers to want to see.

I have used pMachine Pro ($125) which is a great CMS (the free version is available through the fantisco auto installer). It has an area where you can setup newsfeeds to pull from sites that allow it.

GeekLog, another CMS system, has the RSS feed feature built right in. It also comes with auto installer on your package here (someone correct me if I am wrong).

Both are great CMS packages with different bells and whistles but both include the ability to easily do RSS feeds on your web site.
