FTP Upload Through Browser - 02-19-2004, 05:41 PM

Ok, this is going to sound really dumb. I've always used an FTP program to upload my sites. I have a client that wants to upload using the browser. I've never done that.

I'm assuming that it will be ftp:/thedomain.com/~theirlogin

When I try that, I get asked for a password and login. I enter it, then I get an error saying I don't have access to the folder.

Am I ftp'ing to the wrong folder of that domain?
How do I get to the public_html one?

Thanks for helping me out.

use this url
ftp://domain.com

you will be presented with with the usual user/pass pop-up. Enter your user/pass

Once logged in you can navigate as a normal windows window and drag and drop.

IE gets confused on a shared host - 02-20-2004, 12:00 PM

I have run into this before and found the answer here in the forums. IE cannot parse more than one @ symbol in your string.
The conventional login would be:

ftp://username@domainname.com:password@domainname.com

Because of the 2 @ symbols, it doesn't work. If you substitute a %40 for the first at it will work. So use this

ftp://username%40domainname.com:password@domainname.com

Good Luck!
