home.html vs index.html - 02-20-2004, 09:56 PM

How do I set my site to see home.html as the opening page and not index? I have a client that uploaded his site in this manner.

in your root .htaccess file add the following

DirectoryIndex home.html home.htm index.html index.htm

This will first look for and display home.html then home.htm then...

with the x-controller you go to servers>edit .htaccess
not sure where with the other cpanels but its just a plain text file. if you have one in your folder just edit it, if you dont have one just make it and upload it. Be sure your ftp client is set to display hidden files, the dot preceding the filename makes the file a hidden file. Dont use word wrap, each command uses one line.
