CGI Counter Does Not Work

I am trying to use the CGI counter from CPanel. It says that it creates the .dat file but when I press preview it gives an error message about "Could not write to counter file: /var/cpanel/Counters/<filename>.dat and the HTML on my page generates the same message.

Anyone get this to work or know what the problem is?

That is a bug in CPanel and we must fix it at this end.
