Wink Cpanels - 04-21-2004, 10:42 PM

Can we choose as resellers which Cpanel our clients get to use? I think the one with the X is the best one and I'd like to be able to assign that one if I can to my clients who want it.

thanks,
Karen

Karen:

Short answer...YES! In WHM you can set the preferred skin for each reseller plan globally. You can also manually set and reset them one at at time.

Hope that helps.
Sheila

you can set the cpanel to any skin like Sheila said.

I just happened to set all my less-than-computer-literate clients on bluelagoon - two reasons:

When I did that (and it may be different now) the tutorials all were on the bluelagoon skin. A different skin doesn't look the same, and they would say "what?"

2nd, bluelagoon didn't have the fantastico part. I really didn't want my clients to start installing every program on the list and then want me to support it. Plus zooming up their bandwidth. I prefer to see what they want, and then quickly switch their skin to x or some fantastico included skin, and install it, then switch them back.

I do have two clients using it (fantastico) but they are savvy.

advice is free.

I'm glad to know this, thanks to you both.

While on the subject of Cpanel, do you all set a separate set of username/password for the FTP and one for the client to use to login Or do you just assign one for both? I'm the webmaster for every client I have that buys web hosting from me and I use the same un/pw for FTP as I give them to use to login to their Cpanel, because I don't know how to set it up any differently. But I'd rather have one for each. Is there an instruction for this somewhere? I can't find it if there is. If somebody can explain the steps here, plz do.

thanks ahead of time!

The support page, which is linked below my name, has flash tutorials on this. When you get to the tutorial page, click on one of the cPanel skin names, and you'll see a list that includes adding an FTP account. If you are using a different skin, then let us know what skin you are using.

Thanks! I just tried that out and I know how to do that now. I noticed that it makes the username into an email type of username and then when I upload to CuteFTP it automatically opens my public_html folder, so I upload files to the / (slash mark). It makes sense and it works.

Another question I have is this, can I put the Cpanel's FAQ's onto my webmaster web site so that others (my hosting clients especially), can find answers for their questions about their Cpanels?

Blessings,
Karen
