PHP Bulletin Board - 10-04-2002, 11:10 PM

I have installed a bulletin board, but would like to add a personalized logo to replace the php logo. I've seen in done on various boards listed on the PHP website. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out with this one. Also, I will need the same information for placing a customized graphic in the php-Nuke community.

Thanks.

The easiest way is to right click the image, choose properties to see when it is located on your site. Then replace it with the exact same sized custom image. There are probably several other ways to do it too.

In the directory where you have installed phpnuke, find the 'theme' directory. Inside the Theme directory, you will find a number of folders; each of them is a theme that you can choose for your phpnuke. Inside each of these folders, navigate to the 'images' folder and replace the 'logo.gif/jpg' with your own graphic of the same size and background colour so that it seamlessly fits into the overall design.

e.g
http://yourdomain.com/community/them...mages/logo.gif

Once you log in into phpnuke as Admin, you can see the admininstration panel. From preferences, you can set the default theme. There are eight themes preinstalled for you to choose from.
3d-Fantasy, Extralite, Kaput, Nukenews, Slash, Slashocean and Traditional.
Each of these themes are located as I said before inside the themes Directory under Community. And they all have images folder and subsequently logo.gif

If you have difficulty designing them, let me know about logo needs and maybe I can help.

Need2know, other than the logos, you will have to do a lot more customisation to get phpnuke to reflect all your necessities.

These include (but not limited to): Topic Icons, User Icons, Smileys etc etc.

Means that you will be spending a lot of time on getting phpnuke to work and look the way you want it to. Before you indulge, may I suggest that you 'choose' between a number of nuke forks.

Postnuke is a fork of phpnuke and is a lot more stable and feature rich; myPHPnuke is another fork of phpnuke which in turn gave rise to Xoops (based on Object Oriented Programming).
phpnuke itself is born of Thatware... phpwebsite is also a phpnuke fork being developed by the Appalachian State University. its pretty good, but lacks a wide range of modules/addons. (did I forget the little geeklog )

The point is that you have a choice; I have been following these nukes right from the beginning and my choice at the moment is Xoops. Its code is the cleanest and smartest, even security wise. phpnuke is the most popular one, abeit the most buggy.

So choose one for your live site and maybe you can experiment with others.

Good Luck!!
