counter doesn't work - 10-10-2002, 05:50 PM

I tried making a counter through the CPanel, but it doesn't work. I keep getting this message:

"Could not write to counter file: /var/cpanel/Counters/counter.dat"

How can I fix this?

There is a problem with the counter caused by a current bug in CPanel and an ownership issue. On some accounts the owner of the dat file isn't applied correctly. But this doesn't appear to be the problem here.

Just make sure to use username.dat (replacing with your actual username) instead of counter.dat.

Yes, the counter must run as the domain username, and there can only be one username on the domain. There are other counter scripts available on the Internet. But I don't know of any off hand which would give you multiple counters per site. I'm sure there are though.
