internal search function? - 09-10-2005, 06:23 PM

I just uploaded my first site, a calendar for classical music and opera in New York City: http://www.classicaldomain.com

Having an internal search function would really help. Is there any way to do that with the the resources here? Or does anyone have suggestions about ways to get the software.

I am a total beginner. The site is a DIY effort and I have been learning as I go.

Any help is appreciated.

In your cpanel click scripts and look at entropy search.
If that is not what works for you then you will have to peruse cgi-resources or hotscripts or some other script repository for your needs.

I see the entropy bit of code, and I also see a ".searchindex" in the level above my public folder. I wonder if they have could have anything to do with each other?

I think it's off to the help desk...

Many search engines work off an index, that is where entropy puts the index of your site. If you look at the bottom of the entropy search in the scripts area you will see a link to click to rebuild your index. Which is what you should do when you add items you wish to be searchable.

I think I am still missing a step. I'll try it with a little more patience.

Thanks again,

Gregg
