Stange email issue - 04-04-2006, 05:16 PM

I have a client I host under my reseller plan -
gardenvalley.com (Over 3 years now)
Everything works fine with his 3 emails I have set up.
I can email him directly to ron@ with no problems. He can send with no problem --
So here is deal -- He subscribes to a service here:
http://www.herecomestheguide.com/sit...tm?site_id=701
If you scoll down, there is a place to send email - For some reason, email sent from this site is never recieved. It should go to ron@gardenvalley.com
What I've done:
Disabled all filter on this email client
Disabled Mail Scanner
White listed *@herecomestheguide.com
White listed *@gardenvalley.com
Double checked the email value on the script generating from the site
(I compared this to other clients who's email works, and all the info is identical with the exception of the actual email address, which is:ron@gardenvalley.com) You can actually view the source on the email popup window.

My client contacted herecomestheguide.com and the tech support insist everything is correct on their end.

Any ideas on what could be going on here?
Many Thanks,
Jayne

I think it is in the sending action: be sure to check your program to send - I am not sure what you are using, but in several ones I have done, there is a setting in the mail program to make sure it is coming from the domain on which it resides.

You might want to run a test, using your email as the one to which the form email goes to for a check. That's what I have to do to geet it working on two similar sites.

Hi Dick,
Thanks for helping -- The problem is
http://www.herecomestheguide.com is not our site.
So, while I can check the settings on the form "they" are using, I can't change any settings. It's not our form. It's almost like the GVR site is blocking any mail from the herecomestheguide site.
But I have all filters OFF.

or are you referring to his email program???

Thanks,
Jayne

Sorry - I thought it was YOUR program.

One of the things that threw me was their:
<form action="email.htm" method=get>

I'll have to think about it. More later if I come up with anything. I remember this site - you were having fun getting a SSL to work for www.domain.com and just domain.com -

Good luck.

Yes, same site. That was resolved sucessfully! Thanks to Page-zone.

This just gets stranger. I set up a forward so that all mail to ron@gvr (shorthened) forwards to lecmec@mac.com (he has a mac account)
hoping that it would bypass the gvr.com and go right to his mac account. no such luck.

Another thing that is strange, there is an option to "share this page with a friend" If I fill that out and try to send it Jayne@skyline-design.com (my page zone account)- it won't go through. BUT, if I send it to skyblue@dslextreme.com (my isp address) it goes through - neither addresss goes through on the email to portion.

This is why I think it has something to do with the hosting account at page zone.

This is big business for my client, as most of his wedding leads comes from this site and he pays $$$$ to get listed with them. If I can't get this resolved he is going to switch hosting companys. Something I don't want to happen.

ANY help appreciated ---
Jayne

OK, I shared a page with myself (hope no one was looking) - I sent it to a PZ account of mine. It went through fine.

Just for the record, if this guy has a POP account, delete it, then re-install it. Don't lose any mail, first make sure it's all read. Or, if that's too scary, make a NEW pop account and use that in the send mail to area.

You are right, it has to be in your setting with PZ. I don't know how they are different than mine, but mine work with the share-a-page.

It's hard with a third-party account (to send then ask them if they got it, then change something, ask them again, etc) but you will find it that way.

Again. Good luck.

I don't know if this is related or not, (sorry if I'm way off here) ... but I just discovered that some of the big isps like Earthlink & MSN are blocking emails that use mail.customurl.com instead of an smtp that matches your ISP. I had two clients that could never get my pz mail but could get my ISP mail. When I switched my outgoing SMTP to match my ISP it's now accepted at their end.

Hi Shelia,
Thanks but that's not the issue here. My client has used his ISP's SMTP protocol for several years.

I think I'll submit a support ticket. I've tried everything I can think of but it's still unresolved..
