server 16 move - 10-31-2006, 01:56 PM

I've got Joomla sites that needed adjustment (inside the configuraton.php file) after last night's move of server 16 accounts to the new data center. With the Joomla sites it's due to a change in my accounts path:
old server- /home2/username/public_html/
new server- /home/username/public_html/

Another thing I ran into is any password protected directories had to be reset in cPanel.

As of noon Tuesday all my sites seem to have made the move without much problem. Of course that's easy for me to say, I wasn't the one up all night moving bits. :-)

I see notes posted on the Server Status Page about the progress of the move on server 16.

Thanks Jim- that helps. I'm sending a link to that page along with one for dnsreport.com to my customers to try and keep them updated on the transition to their new server.

Does this move effect email for users on other servers? Our website is up but we are unable to send mails and emails sent to us are not showing up.

Email (in and out of accounts on server 16) was down last night. I just sent a test message (out from gmail to an account on server 16) and it came through fine.

If your account isn't on server 16 it has no effect on your email.

My accounts on server 16 are coming along fine. I'm able to access Web Host Manager, all the cPanels and Horde is working on the new server. This morning my ftp privileges kicked in too.

Also I've noticed quicker response on the sites, comparing the new server to the old one.

I've been busy with new projects at work (print shop) and haven't had time to post here at Page-Zone. The new server 16 is still running solid. I hope the new relationship with the Indiana data center is a good one- thumbs up from me, at this stage.

edit Sunday night
Well, the new 16 had been running solid until 7:45 pm Friday, then we hit a 20 hour outage. So now it's going to take a lot of UPtime to balance the scales again.
