Any way of redirecting all dead/bogus URLs to root? - 11-02-2002, 11:14 PM

After seeing a 404 in the logs for someone trying to get to a bulletin board post found by someone in a search engine (the bulletin board is now gone), I figured out how to bring all of those back to the home page. Now, is there any trick such that I could force EVERYTHING dead/bogus back to the home page? As in:

?

You can edit the 404/400/ etc error pages and use redirect/refresh commands in your html page to redirect them to the root.

In the COntrol panel, there is a editor for 'custom error pages'.. you can add the redirect/refresh commands there.

Cheers

It's also possible to set your htaccess to make your homepage your default 404 file. Although this isnt recommended because people dont actually realized that they have received an error.. It's best to just do as fireater says and make a 404 page that says you have come to a page that no longer exists, then just auto refresh to your home page.
