Email Verify Certificate

When I send email using mail.mydomain I get a security mismatch notice which I can clear and send the mail by clicking ok. What can I do to avoid this?
If I change my outgoing mail server in Thunderbird from mail.mydomain to the name on the certificate,(southbend-50.pgzn.com) or to 8.9.22.50, would this cure it?

Sorry about this post! I did a search and didn't turn up the inf I wanted. I see that the inf is there in previous postings in the similar threads, so sorry about that.
I'd like to put it down to age but it's more likely stupidity.
