php, mysql and apache Upgrade - 08-04-2007, 08:48 AM

Hi,

I have seen that there are servers upgraded to php5 from long time ago.

I'm on server sacts-92, and still with php 4.4.7 and mysql 4.1.22. Any plans to upgrade? My clients are asking for the new versions of php and mysql.

I've seen also an old post from Jim saying apache was going to be upgraded to version 2. When is it going to be implemented? I have seen Cpanel 11 is already installed.

If we're still talking about the same server (old 23), sb-94 that server is running php5.

If he means mySQL 5, I'm not sure when that will be upgraded. Probably when we can be sure it will be stable and not break half the php scripts on the servers. We will probably be changed over to Apache2 before any servers be changed to MySQL 5. All of these services are tightly integrated into cPanel and we follow very closely the problems other cPanel hosts have and the bug reports. We've been burned too many times not to.

Apache 2/cPanel 11 bundle (stable) is supposed to be ready within 20 days. I tested it myself about ten days ago and it seemed pretty close to stable. When it comes out we're going to put a server up running Apache2, MySQL 5, and php5. There's no risk in that like there is changing a populated server over.

It would be nice to have a roadmap of upgrades for each server.

Thanks,

That server is running both php4 and php5, it is one of to that has to un php4 until that version becomes obsolete - which I think is in 2013 but sooner if we can get away with it. Peoplethat needed php 4 on the other servers were moved to that server. To run php 5 scripts on that server the files need to be named file.php5 (instead of file.php). Or we can set up a reseller login on a server that runs php 5. Your reseller account would straddle both servers and clients would be that much happier. To do that PM me through this board. I can also move any (or all).

Thanks for the answer Jim,

Probably IŽll have to move one client, in the meantime we'll test with file.php5 ext.

Any plans for Mysql5 an apache2?

regards,

Quike
