Database name restriction (underscore)? - 08-19-2007, 05:31 PM

I am using cPanel to add a new database to one of my accounts. I want to call the database music_catalog. I understand how cPanel prepends my username_ to the database name, so the new database should be username_music_catalog. The problem is that cPanel removes the underscore in music_catalog, and although it says "Created database music_catalog," it actually creates it as username_musiccatalog.

That seems to be an undocumented "feature." Why can I not have an underscore within the name I give to the database?

Chuck,

I think the reason that is happening is that you may specify a secondary user.
mainUser_DBname
mainUser_joe_DBname
and the second underscore gets parsed as a secondary user.
I dont know if it will work but maybe escaping the underscore might help.
