Mailman will not recieve mail to the lists - 08-20-2008, 06:20 PM

With the start of cPanel 11 a new password system was built into the software. Mailman lists with weak passwords will not work any longer, until the password is changed to something stronger and harder to guess.

Log into cPanel and select "change password" on the list not working, and make sure the new password has a score of 50 or higher on the scoring mechanism.

When generating a password you can press "Regenerate" button until a score of 50 or higher is acheived.

I don't see the Password Generator. All I have is:

Change Mail Account Settings

Changing password for [name of list]
New Password:

[ Go Back ]

plus Change and Clear buttons.

What do I have to do?

TIA

Are you using x3 cpanel skin? It sounds like you may be using an older theme. Themes can be changed in WHM - Modify an account - choose x3 from the drop down list.

Thanks. I was using default skin; expected that to provide full functionality.

Anyway, I got to the Change Password dialogue and plugged in the old password, which I created way back when using the generator in Password Safe. It scored a 60. So it seems to me that password strength does not explain why my mailing list doesn't work. I can use the web interface to manage subscribers etc. but posting e-mailed in to the list never show up in the moderation queue.
