need help with loading data from host to sql - 01-07-2003, 09:23 PM

I have successfully created a mysql database and uploaded a data file to it from my local pc.

However I seem to be unable to load the same file when located in my domain name www directory.

LOAD DATA INFILE '/grannygu/tblshort.txt' INTO TABLE `tblshort` FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' ENCLOSED BY '"' ESCAPED BY '\\' LINES TERMINATED BY '\r\n'

produces this error:

Access denied for user: 'grannygu@localhost' (Using password: YES)

I have tried using -p and --password, to no avail; apparently I am using the wrong syntax. Or the path may be wrong because it gives identical error code when using similar but different paths.

Oh... and yes: I did create a username and password for the database.

Wow!

As a MS Access, Crystal Reports, etc. database developer, programmer and administrator, not only freelance but also for a very large company, it was frustrating to hit the wall with something like this.

However, of course, the answer is: PHP!

So thanks one and all for reading.

Yours,
