Question php-Nuke - can't have it in root-web-dir? - 01-17-2003, 02:00 AM

I installed php-Nuke, the first time I tried to install the script, I wanted it to install right in /public_html/ but it wouldn't work. So I put it in a http://216.180.243.26/~nounorg/phpnuke/ and I've got it all configured to my satisfaction.

My problem now is that I want everything located in http://216.180.243.26/~nounorg/ so that the site shows up when the domain is called.

Is it safe to move everything up one directory?

I'd rather not use any sort of redirect.

Why wouldn't it install in the root directory in the first place? FWIW I'm running PostNuke from public_html. Seems like PHP-Nuke should be able to do the same.

I was told that I should just use a redirect (http://verb.noun.org/index.html -> /phpnuke/index.php), and I believe I'll do that, once my DNS settings reset.

I can't move the phpnuke directory up either, since it depends on the directory structure, but I'm fine with the solution of using redirect.

Be sure to use an HTTP redirect, as opposed to a META tag refresh. If you want them to be immediately redirected, that is.

index.php (in the public_html root directory) would contain only this:

Code:
<?php

header("Location: http://verb.noun.org/phpnuke/index.php");
exit;

?>
