Fantastico Install of PHPWebsite - 01-21-2003, 12:01 AM

When I use the Fantastico installer for PHPWebsite, it ALWAYS creates the site as http://<my domain>/website

Even if I override this to say http:/<my domain>, it still creates the "website" directory.

Is there any way to have it install so http://<my domain> will access the website, vs http://<my domain>/website?

Thanks

Probably doesn't help you, but I would advise downloading the package from http://www.phpnuke.org and manually installing it.

It walks you through it in 5 steps or so, no really tough questions - you'll need to know how to make a database and a user (as easy as pushing a button marked New Database and New User).

This software needs to be understood a bit before it can really be put to use - but boy is it powerful.

Good luck.

PS: You can then have the site wherever you want it. I've got quite a few PostNuke sites running on page-zone right now.

Thanks! Since the site is new, I'm not married to a particular toolset. I'll take a look at it.

Ken.

You can also manually install phpwebsite too.

If you don't like how Fantastico installs the software, then I would do it yourself.
Actually I don't see the need to pay $16 to install software that can be done fairly easily yourself. Especially since most the software needs you to customize it any way.

If you are looking for portals, take a look at geeklog.com. It is one of the easier portals to install and use.

Go to http://www.opensourcecms.com/ and look at multiple portals. You can play with them, too.
