Understanding Backup/Restore - 01-28-2003, 01:04 AM

I am kind of a newbie to the whole Cpanel experience. Am I understanding correctly that that backups only work as an "all or nothing deal"?? As in if I need to restore a file, I need to restore the entire site? Also, I tried doing a restore from an alias to test this feature out, and it was just a one file directory and it sat on the page "restoring from backup" (I believe that is what said) forever, and I gave up on it. It never restored the file in that directory I deleted after I did the backup. Any insight or suggestions on how to use this feature would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Still searching for some advice - 03-08-2003, 06:57 PM

I still need help with this issue. It doesn't appear the restore feature works for us. I tested today restoring a full backup (todays backup) and it didn't restore everything , not even close and we noticed that it even skipped directories. So we are worried about our ability to backup and restore information. From what I understand there are no backsup done on the server and it is the customer's duty to backup. I need information on to use this feature of cpanel and need to know if ours is working our not.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Daily, weekly, and monthly backups to protect you and all of your clients data. We can easily restore last night, last week, or last month for any domain at no extra charge.
From the reseller page at:
http://page-zone.com/reseller.php

Now in your specific instance - back up and restore using cpanel:

I admit I haven't tried it, but if you did like it said and you have a problem, better check with Jim on a help desk ticket.
