If you're wondering about upgrading Xoops to 2.0, this might be of interest... The install posed no real problems, except it took a couple tries before I discovered the name of the Xoops mySQL database. It's your Username with "_xoops" appended to it.
I had installed Xoops using Fantastico, no problems- except the revision is a bit old (1.37). I decided I'd try 2.0 RC1 while loading the site with data, in hopes that it is reasonably problem-free, and expecting another RC before the site is ready anyway.
2.0 seems to have installed with no problems. The install script seems to check everything important, and has red lights and green lights for everything it checks. If it finds a red light, it explains what to do to correct the situation, in language even a novice can understand. It won't proceed until all the lights are green. The databases were upgraded, stuff is still there (whew!). 2.0 is a bit easier to use than 1.37, so I hope I made the right choice. I'll be doing a lot of testing in the next few days... I did make a backup, just in case.
