URGENT: Install and Uninstall CGI Scripts - 02-06-2003, 10:38 PM

Hi,

My client installed a CGI script (Agora Cart) in his account last month. But he went to file manager and delete all scripts related with this CGI script last week. (is this the correct way to do that?)

Now, he want to install the same CGI script again, but it was not allow to do so. A message show that this must be reset by the Administrator before he can install the CGI scripts again.

Please advise how to do that.

P.S. - Please reply. My client has been waiting for my reply for two days!

Thanks and best regards

Alex

Deinstalling carts - 02-09-2003, 02:14 AM

Your client must have hosed something up. To deinstall the Agora cart, you only need to use the "deinstall" button from the Cpanel. Since I deinstalled it a while ago, I just tried installing again, and it works. However, it looks like the only directory it creates is the cart name directory in the public_html folder. The deinstall log only lists that directory upn deinstall.

I had a simular problem that drove me nuts with the Interchange cart. (just in case that what you actually used). You have to manually remove that. And the whole cart setup interface is not self explanitory in cpanel. It creates a "cart" directory, as well as a cart.cgi in the cgi-bin. These can be just deleted. However, theres also a "catalogs" directory that will give you permission errors on a few folders. That directory is whats used in the CPanel to say "its all setup...". If you don't want to monkee with the permissions to remove it, just rename the catalogs folder. Then go back to the Interchange cart install. Viola, its all back, and the new one is working. If your client used that cart, he probably didn't get it all.

But, otherwise, I would say he/she deleted other needed files. If he did a custom install (without cpanel), then he might of deleted more than intended. Or, theres more to agora than meets the eye. Or, based on the error, he's in the wrong directory or needs executable permissions there.

hope this helps, or gives an idea, anyway.

kvincent,

Thanks for your help.

I think my client should have problem with the Interchange Cart. Actually, he told me that he tried to install the most suitable cart, therefore he installed and un-installed the Cart scripts. After he tried all the carts, then he decided to re-install the carts again. (because he has only 20M storage space).

Moreover, he told me that he deinstall the cart in the File Manager interface. Since I never install the scripts in the cpanel so I really don't know what's going on with that. I always think that all the scripts install in cpanel can also be deinstall in the cpanel!

Thanks and best regards

Alex
