phpBB Critical Error: Error creating new session

I'm having a problem with phpBB... I haven't touched any configurations, and within the last day, I started getting this error message

phpBB : Critical Error

Error creating new session

when I went to my forum . Has there been a configuration change with either Apache or PHP? Is this an isolated incident?

Okay, fixed it.

If anyone carse... I fixed it by deleting all the records from the phpbb_sessions table in the database. It had 550 rows before I emptied it; I don't know if there's some magical number at 550 or what. I wonder if phpbb doesn't empty that table out after a while.

I don't use phpbb but info like that will be a big help to others who do. That is what makes this forum a great knowledge base.
