Simple Tip to make your Blog, Forums and other software more Secure

This simple tip will work for any web software (Joombla, PhpNuke, postNuke, phpBB2, etc) that has an administration sub-directory more secure. I ran across this tip while looking for information to make Joomla more secure and now I use it on all of my sites/software.

Use CPANEL and password protect your administration sub-directory. On Joomla the directory is /administrator.

If there is a vulnerability found in your software, a wood be hacker will not have access to the administration functionality because that will not have the required user name and password that is secured by the web server.

The caveat is that to access the administration of your software, you will first have to enter the web server enforced username and password. But this is a small price to pay for the added security to your site.

I've added this extra layer of password protection to my Joomla sites too.
