default index.html for new sites

Is there a way to make a single index.html that all new sites we host would get automatically or do we have to copy it into each new site as it's created? Seems like there should be but I'm guessing the issue is the shared servers. Please let me know if there's a way to do this and if so, how.

Account Functions>Skeleton Directory

OK, I made my placeholder index and added it to the public_html folder within the cpanel3-skel. The new domain that had no index still doesn't display my new index page. Is that because it's in the wrong place or will it not work on pre-existing domans?

Related questions:
* Is there also somewhere where I can set the Default System Setting for the Index Manager? I'd like No Indexing on all folders on all sites. I just went in and manually did that for 2 sites. They're initially setup for "default system setting" which implies to me there's a way to set that default. Is it by domain or within the WHM?

* Same question for custom error pages. Can I made one set of error pages that will automatically re-direct to the home page of the domain? Or must this also be done by domain and page by page?

PS: Could the skel issue be that my server has 2 hard drives? Would there then be a second skel folder?

I believe the index.html in cpanel3-skel is copied to the new domain when you create the new domain. If you created the domain before putting the new index.html in the cpanel3-skel folder, nothing will change. You have to manually place the index.html file into the domain that you already created.

at least in xcontroller, click on server, then error pages. you can construct what shows when that error is listed, including a redirect back to the index or whereever. It's in all cpanels, just not sure which one you are using.

skaloc's answer is correct.
If you want error pages then make them and put them in skel. If you want a redirect to index then use the meta refresh in your error pages or .htaccess redirect.
