Is there a way to check default address across domains quickly? - 03-02-2007, 01:21 PM

i saw Jim's announcement here and I checked my OWN domains and they are set up properly, but I don't really know how my resold accounts are set up. I can go in 1-at-a-time and check, but its a pain. Is there a quick way of seeing what the default address is set to in all my accounts?

I was thinking something similar. But I would go so far as to set them all to :fail:. Must be a way to do that from SSH as the main account.

I'm currently testing out a couple of transparent filters that will sit in front of the servers and eliminate the spam before it gets to the server. That would make any catch all settings useless. The proxy updates each 15 minutes from a list of actual email accounts on the server and will only pass mail through to those. And while it does that it skims the obvious spam off the top.

One of the anti spam devices is this - ASSP

And the other is this - DefenderMX

Spam is way down, almost nothing on several accounts. Changing the default on one particular account to :fail: is one reason.

I just changed it on every domain. I don't think half the people even know that email account is there collecting unrouted mail. But if anyone wants it, it can easily be changed back through cPanel. The change didn't affect any setting except where the setting was "username". For instance if someone already had a default email address set up, it wasn't touched.

Although I can see the reasons behind this move, and (fortunately) went through my accounts and did exactly this myself just several days ago -- after making some time-consuming adjustments (since I used the default account exclusively and sorted the output -- I hate to think how much mail I would have lost otherwise), I'm a very concerned by big changes like this taking place globally and being announced only here in the forum, where only a few show up every day.

At least, I assume no email was sent, since I received no email warning me about the upcoming change, and I've signed up several times for notifications.

The servers send me messages from time to time, when they need my attention due to some impending problem, but for some reason, management never does.

As it happened, even though I was away, I chanced to come to the forum and saw discussion of the problems and decided to be proactive -- but I travel, and often don't check the forum daily to see if the sky is falling.

That said, I and my number two do always get email.

Is there not some way that Page-Zone could be sure to notify everyone if something big like this is going down?
