Question Change Mail Server elsewhere? - 09-18-2007, 10:59 AM

My client wants to have his email handled by another company using his own mail server, while I continue to host his website on PageZone under my own reseller IP.

How do I configure the mail server to change to his IPs on Web Host Manager?

Much appreciated for any help and assistance.
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

When I switch an account over to use Google Apps for Your Domain, I use the Change MX Record feature in cPanel. Here's a forum thread with a screenshot.

Thanks Steve for your help. Much appreciated.
In addition to Cpanel (per your screen shot), I also found out that on Web Host Manager, that you can also configure MX under Edit DNS Zone, where you can set the CNAME to new mail server name and MX to point to new IPs.
Thanks again...
Bruce

Pointing a domain to a couple mail servers confuses me. I've had enough trouble with email in general (isps trying to stop the flood of spam) that I'm pretty much using Google Apps for Your Domain for all the important stuff these days.
