changing domain name - 03-27-2003, 10:18 PM

Hi All

I had a customer who wanted me to change the domain name he was using to another one so he would not have to reupload all the files for the site.

So I went in to my WHM
Clicked on: "MODIFY AN ACCOUNT"

Once the page loaded I deleted the domain name that was showing with the new domain he wanted to use and clicked SAVE.

Now when I click on
"LIST ACCOUNTS"
or
"View Bandwidth Usage"
it does not show up.

But it does show up if I use any of the other WHM fuctions.

Is there somthing else I have to do or should have done?

Thanks

You will probably have to turn in a help desk ticket about it. This looks like something for CPanel.net to fix.

Thanks Jim, so it is not my fault then right?

I will go to Cpanel.net then and turn in a ticket.

Thanks again

Hello, I did pretty much the same thing and I am having problems as well. One of the problems is that when I upload my webfiles to server, it shows up in the correct directory, I can access it using my www.wwwroot8.net/~username/*.php URL, but it does not show up under the www.mydomain.com/*.php

The domain was transferred a couple months ago, I just didn't have time to try it out till now, so doesn't have to do with propogation or anything.

But I am also having the same List Accounts problem as the previous poster.

I am wondering though, this is my second request for help desk. My first request, was back when they were installing help desk and they didn't see my ticket till a few days afterwards because of problem with install.

Today I submitted my second ticket ever, at about 10am-ish PST (09/19/05). How long does it take for someone to get back to you?

I'm not in a major rush as I can still test my php pages using the ~username URL, but I am wondering what is the average response time.

Thank you.

If you let me know the ticket number I'll look it up. If the site isn't coming up at all its probably a dns problem. It sounds like the nameserver information isn't correct.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your response. My Ticket # is: KCE-437992

The domain points to the cpanel default: There is no website configured at this address.

However, the ftp with the new domain works just fine. In fact my files can be accessed from the web under my www.wwwroot8.net/~username when I upload the files using the new domain

the only thing that doesn't work is accessing those same files via the web via www.mynewdomain.com, even though ftp.mynewdomain.com works just fine

Also, the fact that List Accounts doesn't list that account. It shows up as I have no accounts.

Thank you. My issue has been resolved. After I ranted a bit in the general forum, I saw the wwwroot5 thread and then had a better understanding of the reasons behind the delay. It is nice of you to explain the situation, and I am glad I browsed some other threads, to have seen that, which made the waiting a bit easier and also more willing to see page-zone through this. I was recommended here by one of your customers who is a good friend of mine, so both him and I wondering why the delay for support, but now we understand.
